Outdoor Enthusiasts Encouraged To Explore Region "All In One Day"

By Beth Milligan | April 4, 2019

The Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation, Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy, and Groundwork Center for Resilient Communities are encouraging residents to get outside this Saturday, April 6 and explore the region's diverse natural resources "all in one day."

The mission of the All-In-One Day Day is "simply to get outside with friends and do as many activities—both winter and summer—as you can," according to an event release. "Find snow to cross-country ski, snowshoe, and snow bike. Find dry roads and trails to road-bike, mountain bike, trail run, and hike. Find a ski or golf resort to downhill ski, snowboard, or golf. Find a river to fish, canoe, or kayak. Find a park to Frisbee golf."

The point is to "take one day and, in a really fun spirit, pay tribute to how blessed we are to have a landscape that can keep us healthy in both body and mind, all year round," the release continues.

All-In-One-Day Day grew out of Accelerate, a movement for well-being that is a strategic priority of the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation and seeks to expand the culture of health in northwest Michigan as a way to improve community well-being. Residents are encouraged to round up friends for the event, gather winter or summer gear, and check off as many activities as possible in one day. Participants can share pictures and video to social media with the hash tag #allinonedayday. Participants are also encouraged to stop by The Workshop Brewing Company Saturday whenever they're finished for an afterglow to share their experiences with others.
